Apex Legends launched in February 2019 and has run 29 seasons without missing a beat. Unlike most live-service games, Apex has something remarkable: an almost mechanical consistency in season length. This is the complete record of every season — verified dates, durations, and the stats that reveal how Respawn actually manages its release calendar.

The Apex Seasons Pattern — What No One Talks About

Before diving into the full table, here’s the most interesting thing about Apex season data: 12 of 29 seasons have lasted exactly 91 days. No other major live-service game comes close to this level of consistency.

The pattern: Apex runs on a strict 91-day / 84-day / 97-day cycle with rare exceptions for content delays or game events. Once you know this, predicting future season dates becomes almost formulaic — which is exactly why our live countdown is rarely more than a few days off even before the end date is officially confirmed.

The only true outlier is Season 3: Meltdown at 126 days — a story worth understanding.

Season Records & Key Stats

Longest Season: Season 3: Meltdown — 126 Days

Season 3 ran for 126 days — 35 days longer than a standard season. This happened because Respawn wanted to give World’s Edge (the new map introduced that season) more time to breathe. The season shipped late and had significant content planned post-launch. It remains the only Apex season to cross the 100-day mark and likely the last — Respawn has held the 91-day cadence much more tightly since.

Shortest Regular Season: Season 6: Boosted — 78 Days

Season 6 is the only full season that ran under 80 days. Respawn has never publicly explained the shorter runtime, but it coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic’s ongoing impact on development cycles in 2020, the same external pressure that inflated early Fortnite seasons at the same time.

The 91-Day Stat

12 out of 29 seasons have lasted exactly 91 days. That’s 41% of all seasons hitting the same number precisely. Add in the 84-day (6 seasons) and 97-98-day (5 seasons) groups and you’ve accounted for 79% of all seasons in three duration brackets. Apex is, by far, the most schedule-consistent major live-service game.

Average Season Length by Era

EraSeasonsAverage
Early (S1–S5, 2019–2020)5101 days
Mid (S6–S15, 2020–2022)1091 days
Recent (S16–S29, 2022–2026)1490 days

The early era average is inflated by Season 3’s 126 days. Remove that outlier and the early average drops to 94 days — still longer than recent seasons, consistent with Respawn still finding its rhythm.

How Ranked Splits Work in Apex Seasons

Unlike Fortnite (one ranking period per season), Apex divides each season into two ranked splits. Each split resets your rank partially — a soft reset, not a full wipe. The midpoint of the season is when the split occurs, usually around day 42–45.

This matters for planning: if you’re pushing for a high rank, you need to be aware of both the mid-season split date and the end-of-season date. Our Apex season countdown shows the current season end date, which is the deadline for your ranked rewards.

Ranked rewards (weapon charms, badges, loading screens) are distributed at the end of each season based on your highest rank achieved. You keep whatever rank you reached — there’s no need to be that rank when the season ends, just at some point during it.

New Legend Per Season — The Pattern That Broke

For the first 18 seasons of Apex, Respawn delivered one new Legend per season, almost without exception. Starting with Season 16: Revelry, they shifted to a slower cadence — not every season gets a new Legend, and some updates focus on overhauling existing characters instead.

Season 29: Overclocked introduces Axle, continuing the new-Legend cadence that resumed in Season 27. Axle is a Skirmisher focused on extreme mobility — the first Legend whose Tactical ability (Nitro Gates) can be used by any Legend, ally or enemy alike.
