The Story This Season
Riven Tides introduces a new coastal map, a massive new ARC enemy called the Turbine, and a fresh Raider Deck. The limited-time Last Resort event (April 28 – May 25, 2026) rewards players for completing extraction objectives under extreme pressure. Embark Studios has confirmed Arc Raiders is moving from a monthly cadence to two major updates per year — the next big drop, Frozen Trail, arrives in October 2026 and will be the largest update in the game's history. A new high-level trader and stash relief land in interim live updates before then.
Date verified against official publisher announcements and in-game season panels. Historical cadence data is context only — official dates always take priority.
Our timer tracks Arc Raiders content update windows based on official Embark Studios announcements. Arc Raiders does not use fixed season end dates — the countdown reflects the active event window (Last Resort: May 25) and will update when the next content update date is confirmed.
How Arc Raiders Seasons and Updates Work
Arc Raiders, developed and published by Embark Studios, does not use traditional numbered seasons. Instead, the game operates on a monthly content update cadence, with each update introducing new maps, ARC enemy variants, Raider Deck reward tracks, and limited-time events.
Embark has organized updates into escalation periods — thematic blocks of content that span multiple months. The January–April 2026 escalation included four named updates: Headwinds (January), Shrouded Sky (February), Flashpoint (March), and Riven Tides (April). Each update had its own headline features and event window.
Content Update History
Arc Raiders launched on October 30, 2025, and has maintained a consistent monthly update rhythm since:
Launch — October 30, 2025: Game release with initial extraction maps and Arc enemy roster
North Line — November 13, 2025: First post-launch content update
Cold Snap — December 16, 2025: Winter-themed update, Raider Deck 2 "The Goalie" (Dec 26)
Headwinds — January 27, 2026: Start of the Escalation content block
Riven Tides — April 28, 2026: Coastal map, Turbine ARC enemy, Last Resort event — current
Raider Deck System — Arc Raiders' Free Battle Pass
Arc Raiders uses a Raider Deck system instead of a paid Battle Pass. All Raider Decks are free for every player — there is no premium tier or purchase required. Players earn Cred by completing Daily Challenges, which is the primary currency for unlocking Raider Deck pages containing cosmetics, emotes, and skins.
Unlike Battle Passes in other games, completed Raider Deck rewards do not expire — once unlocked, they are permanently yours. The time-sensitive element in Arc Raiders is the limited-time event window, not the Raider Deck itself.
When Does Riven Tides End?
Riven Tides launched on April 28, 2026 and does not have a confirmed end date for the update itself. Embark Studios typically announces the next content update 1–2 weeks before it goes live, at which point the current update window closes. Based on the monthly cadence, the next update is expected in late May or early June 2026.
The Last Resort limited-time event — which runs concurrently with Riven Tides — has a confirmed deadline of May 25, 2026. Players who want to claim Last Resort event rewards must complete the event objectives before that date.
Last Resort Event — May 25 Deadline
Last Resort is a limited-time extraction challenge event that runs April 28 – May 25, 2026. The event tasks squads with completing high-difficulty extraction objectives under compounding pressure — each raid attempt applies debuffs that make subsequent attempts more dangerous.
Event-exclusive cosmetics and Raider Deck pages tied to Last Resort are permanently unavailable after May 25. Players who want these rewards should prioritize Last Resort objectives immediately rather than leaving them for the final days, as the event's escalating difficulty mechanic punishes late-season cramming.
Riven Tides New Coastal Map
Riven Tides introduced a new coastal extraction map to the Arc Raiders map pool. The coastal biome features tidal terrain that changes extraction route viability depending on timing — some low-lying corridors flood periodically, forcing players to adapt routes mid-raid.
The new map is a permanent addition to the pool. Players who learn the coastal extraction points, high-value loot zones, and Turbine patrol patterns during Riven Tides will carry that knowledge advantage into subsequent updates when the map receives additional tuning.
Turbine — New Large ARC Enemy
The Turbine is Riven Tides' headline new large ARC enemy. It patrols the coastal map with a rotating turbine attack that deals high area-of-effect damage at medium range, requiring coordinated squad positioning to avoid while DPS players focus fire on its core.
Large ARC enemies like the Turbine drop the highest-tier loot in Arc Raiders, making them primary targets for squads capable of handling the encounter. However, engaging a Turbine while also managing other player squads in the area is one of the game's highest-risk, highest-reward situations.
Arc Raiders' PvPvE Extraction Format
Arc Raiders is a third-person PvPvE extraction shooter — players squad up to raid zones controlled by AI-driven ARC machines, collect loot, and extract before dying or being eliminated by other player squads. The tension between fighting AI enemies and watching for human opponents defines the game's core loop.
As a free-to-play title available on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Arc Raiders has cross-platform availability but no cross-play between platforms by default.
Extraction Strategy and Survival
Successful extraction is the primary objective in Arc Raiders — dying resets your carried loot, while successful extraction banks it permanently. This creates asymmetric incentives where a squad that has collected significant loot may prefer avoiding combat with other players rather than risking a loss.
The Riven Tides coastal map adds a timing element with its tidal flooding mechanic. Players carrying heavy loot loads who get caught in a flooding corridor face either a risky fight to push through or a time-consuming reroute — skilled squads exploit this against overloaded opponents.
Loadout and Build Variety
Arc Raiders features a class-flexible loadout system where players mix weapons, armor, and equipment modules rather than choosing a fixed role. The Riven Tides update added new equipment options that specifically counter the Turbine's attack pattern — players who build around coastal map encounters gain a significant advantage in both AI and PvP encounters in that zone.
Squad coordination matters more than individual loadout optimization. A team where each player's build complements the others' — covering damage types, mobility options, and support capabilities — outperforms three individually optimized solo builds in Arc Raiders' extraction format.
Connection to The Finals
Arc Raiders and The Finals share a developer in Embark Studios. Both games feature heavy environmental interaction, destructible elements, and squad-based competitive formats — but occupy very different positions: The Finals is arena-based competitive multiplayer, while Arc Raiders is a loot-driven extraction game with persistent progression.
Players who enjoy The Finals' destructive physics sandbox and Embark's gunfeel will find Arc Raiders' extraction format a natural companion game, offering a different pace and risk structure within the same studio's design philosophy.
Frequently asked questions
When does Arc Raiders Riven Tides end?
+
Arc Raiders Riven Tides does not have an official end date yet. Embark Studios has confirmed the next major update, Frozen Trail, arrives in October 2026. This page updates when an official date is announced.
What is Arc Raiders Frozen Trail?
+
Frozen Trail is the next major Arc Raiders update, confirmed for October 2026. Embark Studios has described it as the largest update in the game's history, replacing the previous monthly release cadence with two major drops per year.
What is the Arc Raiders Raider Deck?
+
The Raider Deck is Arc Raiders' free progression system, replacing a traditional paid Battle Pass. All cosmetic rewards are earned through gameplay with no purchase required.
What is the Arc Raiders extraction loop and how does it progress across seasons?
+
Arc Raiders is a third-person extraction shooter where squads of three drop into large maps, fight NPC ARCs (autonomous robotic constructs) and other players, loot gear, and extract before dying. Everything you extract carries over to your persistent stash and can be used in future raids — dying means losing whatever you brought in. Seasonal progression is tied to the Raider Deck (the free reward track), TEC faction reputation, and limited-time events like Last Resort. Major seasonal updates reset event progress but not your core extracted inventory or TEC standing.
